About Us

About Us

Officially called Crewe and Nantwich District Talking Newspaper we are Registered Charity Number 507826, registered in England on the 10th August 1978

Our aim

To relieve the blind, or the partially blind, or those labouring under some temporary or permanent incapacity or disability which makes reading a strain, by the provision of recordings, or tactile reading matter.

The Talking Newspaper is entirely produced by unpaid volunteers and provided free of charge to our listeners.

The Talking Newspaper is based at the IRIS Vision Resource Centre 14 Chapel Street, Crewe, CW2 7DQ.  Note that we do not have regular hours so in the first instance contact our secretary or visit IRIS during their opening hours to see the exciting things they are doing.

Thanks to

Crewe and Nantwich Chronicles for giving us permission to read the newspapers. Crewe and Nantwich Chronicles are owned by Reach PLC.

Royal Mail for providing free delivery and return of the recordings under their Articles for the Blind scheme.

Kualo for hosting this website under their free charity hosting scheme. Free Charity Hosting by Kualo

Crewe & Nantwich Talking Newspaper continues to provide the weekly newspaper and equipment to listen to it free of charge to our listeners.

Funding

We do not receive external funding. We raise our own funds and rely on the generosity of donations from organisations and individuals.  We are always pleased to receive one-off donations from people wishing to say "Thank You" or listeners leaving us a bequest in their Will.
